We hear from a lot of first time home buyers that are intimidated by the mortgage application process.
They think it will be a difficult and long process that they just aren’t ready for.
We’re here to tell you that it’s really not that hard. Collecting your paperwork is the most time intensive step and if you are a fairly organized person, it won’t take long at all.
What do you need for a mortgage pre-approval?
- Bank statements for the last 3 months
- W2 and/or Tax Returns for the last 2 years
- A list of your current debts (credit cards, car payment, child support, etc)
While your lender will ask for additional information during loan processing, these 3 items are usually enough to give you an idea of how much you can borrow and what type of loan you qualify for.
Need a referral to a great local lender that can walk you through the process? We’ve got a whole list of them.
