Home Buying Tips | What Inspections Should You Do?

    Don't skimp on inspections!

There’s more to buying a home than just finding the right place and agreeing on a price with the seller.

One of the most important parts of the contract to purchase is your right, as a buyer, to perform inspections on the property. During this inspection period, you have every right to walk away from a house that doesn’t meet your expectations. Alternatively, you can negotiate repairs with the home owner.

    What inspections do we recommend?

Every home is different, but at a minimum, you should perform a full home inspection and a termite inspection. Louisiana is ranked #1 in the country for the licensing process that home inspections go through and the LA Board of Home Inspectors has a list of currently licensed providers (or, you can always ask your agent for a recommendation).

If the home inspector uncovers any questionable items, they may also recommend that you invest in additional inspections, such as:

    • Plumbing video
    • Structural engineer
    • Roofing inspection
