New Orleans Farmers Markets

Eating locally isn’t a challenge with all of the New Orleans farmers markets. Whether you are searching for the freshest catch of the day, locally grown veggies, or just some fresh herbs clipped from a garden that morning, your options abound.

Here’s our list of places to grab some fresh seafood, produce, honey, crafts, and more in and around the city. Click the market names¬†for the most current information on hours and locations.

French Market

The grandaddy of all New Orleans markets, the French Market is the oldest continually operating open air market in the United States.

Crescent City Farmers Market

The Crescent City Farmers Market moves from place to place. They are Uptown on Tuesday, in the French Market on Wednesday, in Mid City on Thursday and downtown on Saturday.

They sponsor a Marketeer Club to teach kids about healthy eating and nutrition, offer a locally sourced pick of the week and have great recipes on their website.

Hollygrove Market and Farm

You can shop the Hollygrove Market both in person and online. They offer $25 produce boxes and a pop up garden lunch every Sunday.

Grow Dat Youth Farm

Open from January through June in City Park, the Grow Dat Farm Stand offers seasonal produce grown by youth farmers.

Gretna Farmers Market

Just across the river in Gretna, there’s a weekly Saturday morning market under a covered pavilion (rain or shine!). The market also includes periodic Art Walks featuring local artists selling their creations.

Westwego Farmers & Fisheries Market

A small farmers market is offset by several events through the year, such as Christmas at the Market (with Santa and caroling), a New Year’s Eve family friendly event, and a spring concert series that features local bands.

Westwego Seafood Market

A collection of little shacks where you can see the boats docked, the seafood market offers more than just the freshest catch. You’ll find meats, sausage, tamales, seasonings, and more.
