Are the Holidays a bad time to list my home?
Now that we’re creeping up on Christmas and the New Year, we’re hearing a lot of sellers that are opting to just stay off of the market until January. We know that it’s a pain to have a parade of people through your home while you’re in the middle of holiday shopping, decorating, and party giving and going. We know that your schedule is a little more harried during December.
You know what else we know?
Relocation buyers don’t care about the holidays. If they have to be settled into New Orleans in January or February, they are choosing homes now.
Only buyers that really need to find a home are shopping during the holidays – the looky loos are busy doing other things besides wasting your time with showings of homes they will never buy.
A little holiday cheer can make your home show better and that’s always a good thing.
Listing now allows you to beat the January rush, when we will see a surge in new listings hitting the market.
You don’t have to go on the market and give up the time you’ve set aside to wrap gifts, bake cookies and have a few friends over. You can control the days and times your home is available to prospective buyers. Just don’t go overboard and make it hard to show.
Get ahead of the folks taking the holidays off from showings and you’ll be ahead when it comes time for offers as well.
