    July 2-5  Essence Fest, Mercedes-Benz Superdome

    The annual summer event features live music, artists, speakers and parties over the 4th of July weekend.



    July 9-12  San Fermin en Nueva Orleans

    The annual running of the bulls has multiple events taking place July 9-12, with the actual running of the bulls happening on Saturday, July 11th. Thanks to Jared Howerton for the photo!

    July 4  Go 4th On the River

    A spectacular fireworks display on the Mississippi River, the show can be viewed from both the East and West Banks of the river. Hint: levee views from Algiers are fantastic!



    July 11  Plant sale at City Park

    Bring your wagon for your treasures and show up early, since the best plants go quickly! Gates open at 9am, sale is 9am-noon.

    July 30 – Aug 2  Satchmo Summerfest

    Billed as the premier American Jazz Festival dedicated to the life, legacy and music of Louis Armstrong, this is the 15th year anniversary of the fest. For the first time, there is a $5 admission fee.

    Wednesdays on the Point

    A free summer concert series at the Algiers Ferry Landing, music, wine and fun abound in the Point. No outside food or drinks allowed, but you can bring a chair or blanket every Wednesday in July for a great show.

    Thursdays at Twilight in City Park

    Every Thursday at 6pm, this twilight concert series offers a wide range of musical selections. From swing to zydeco, there is bound to be a performer that catches your ear.
