There’s no reason to say “I’m bored” in New Orleans, with so many summer events happening all around the city.

Here’s a list of our favorite activities happening in June

Louisiana Cajun Zydeco Festival – June 6-7

The 9th annual free festival takes place at Armstrong Park. Live music, food vendors, an arts and crafts market and kids activities. No pets, ice chests or outside food or drinks allowed, but your camp or folding chairs are welcome so you can grab a spot to enjoy the day.

Grease at Coliseum Square Park – June 6th

Located between Camp and Prytania Streets on Coliseum, who wouldn’t want to spend a summer evening watching the classic movie Grease, sponsored by the New Orleans Film Society. Free and open to the public, pets and food are welcome. If you don’t want to pack a picnic, food and beverages will also be for sale at the event. The movie begins at sundown, but get there early to spread a blanket and enjoy the evening.

Jazz in the Park – June 11

Free music fest takes place at Armstrong Park (835 N. Rampart St) and features live music from Darcy Malone & the Tangle along with Raw Oyster Cult. Kids activities include a spacewalk and face painting and there’s a second line at 4pm. 7 food vendors and 18 arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to make it even more fun.

Festigals – June 11-14

Billed as New Orleans’ original ultimate women’s getaway weekend celebration, Festigals events include seminars, luncheons, networking opportunities, private home tours, a second line parade and more.

French Market Creole Tomato Festival – June 13-14

Music on 3 different stages, food booths, culinary demos, kids activities and more will be happening at this free festival in the French Market.

Wednesdays on the Point – every Wednesday in June

A free summer concert series, the shows take place every Wednesday from 5:30-8:30pm at the Algiers Ferry Landing, 200 Morgan Street in Algiers Point. No outside food or drinks allowed, but there are vendors selling both. Bring your chair or blanket and your dancing shoes.

Thursdays at Twilight in City Park – every Thursday at 6pm

There’s not a better place to relax than in City Park and the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in the Botanical Garden is a beautiful venue for these weekly concerts with great local musicians. No outside food, drinks or pets, but there will be wine, beer, soft drinks, mint juleps and food are available for sale. Seating is limited to 480 people per performance and tickets are $10 per person.

Plant sale at City Park – June 13

Free admission to the monthly plant sale at the New Orleans Botanical Garden, from 9am – noon. Pro tip: bring a wagon for your purchases and get there early since the available plants go quickly!

Date Night at Carousel Gardens Amusement Park in City Park – June 27

From 7-10pm on June 27th, there will be a DJ, dance area, giveaways, cocktails and more at the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park in City Park. Regular admission and ride prices will be charged.
